| Video Discription | A seven-member parliamentary team consisting of Congress and Left Front MPs arrived on a two-day visit to the BJP-ruled Tripura and visited houses of various victims of post-poll violence affected areas in Tripura. The parliamentary team, comprising four MPs of Lok Sabha and three MPs of Rajya Sabha, divided into three groups visited violence-hit villages and urban areas of two districts - West Tripura and Sepahijala. The members of the parliamentary team included P.R. Natarajan, Ranjita Ranjan, A.A Rahim, Abdul Khalique (Lok Sabha) and Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, Vinay Viswam, and Elaram Karim (Rajya Sabha). Local MLAs of Congress and CPI(M) including Gopal Chandra Roy, Birajit Sinha, also Tripura PCC president and Jitendra Choudhury who is also the CPI(M) state secretary accompanied the parliamentary team beside former CM Manik Sarkar. During their visit the MPs in three teams along with local CPI(M) and Congress MLAs and leaders interacted with the affected people due to the violence following the poll result declaration on March 2. The victims alleged that they were targeted as they were supporters of either the Congress or CPI(M) and the attackers belonged to the ruling saffron party. Large numbers of houses were attacked with sharp weapons and their windows, doors, tin sheets, fencing, were destroyed, houses were vandalized and some were put on fire. The victims are still living in panic as they fear that they may be targeted again, while others said that despite lodging a complaint no action was taken by the police while in some cases police had refused to register a case against the culprits. Meanwhile, one of the visiting MP’s team was allegedly attacked by goons at Nehalchandra Nagar under Sepahijala district. The MLAs went there to enquire about some shops which were burnt a the goons allegedly attacked vehicles beside breaking the windshield of two vehicles, pelted bricks in front the security force personnel. However, the BJP denied the allegation that there workers were involved and demanded an enquiry.
