Video Discription |
This video veatures the Ferruginous Hawk and the sounds, calls, songs and other noise the bird makes. Apparently, there isa ferruginous AMONGINOUS....sort of like when you have a mushroom, in wheic case we would have a FUNGUS AMONGUS.....hardee, har, har, guys...
OH Boy...I know. You don't have to say it.....
Bbi while we are sort of off the subject a bit, I want to say something..which is both on and off the subject...as least as it applies to the Ferrufinous Hawk, that is...but as far as BIRDING in general goes it is KEY TO IDENTIFYING BIRD SUBSPECIES WITH 100% ACCURACY
Iin Birding, KNOWING WHAT A BIRD SOUNDS LIKE is nearly as important if not equally important to knowing what a bird LOOKS LIKE....
SIG
IN OTHER WORDS, YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR EARS, THAT IS TO SAY, YOU HAVE TO LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN....
YOUR LISTENING SKILLS HAVE TO BE EMPLOYED IN EQUAL IF NOT GREATER MEASURE THAN YOUR SIGHT WHEN YOU AR BIRDING BECAUSE THE SOUNDS, CALLS, SONGS, AND OTHER SOUNDS THAT BIRDS IN THE WILD MAKE ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN YOUR EFFORT TO CORRECTLY STUDY AND IDENTIFY THE BIRD SUBSPECIES THAT YOU WANT TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY AND BY EXTENSION, STUDY.
in other words you have to use your eyes and your ears in equal measurE when Birding..
This are often heard before they are seen... if they're even seen it all, when you are out in nature, so you really have to tune your ear to the environment and your surroundings when you bird. There are some subspecies of birds that look very similar and experts can, with concerted effort, some arguing among each other, and referencing field book or three, figure out the differences between the two subspecies of very similar looking birds, each which is representative of a completely different subspecies, and tell you which one is.... that is if they could just get the birds to come down from high up in the trees which are obscured by the lower branches below and quit fluttering and flittering around DAMMIT and stand perfectly statue still in front of them while they examine them both to come up with the answer for you. A feat which seems unlikely they, or YOU, will have success in pulling off...unless you are Saint Francis of Assisi or have his abilities that is. This seems unlikely, and if you don't have Saint Francis powers and find yourself in the "Regular Person Group", well then you have to rely on something else to get it done other than sight alone...and that SOMETHING ELSE IS LISTENING.
SO HERE IS THE SECRET...AND THIS SECRET IS THE WHOLE FOUNDATION AND PREMISE UPON WHICH THE BIRDS NETWORK PREVIOUSLY BIRDS INC WAS BUILT...
. HERE IS THE WAY TO MAKE YOU THE CADILLAC DOOR SLAMMING, CHECK WRITING SHOT CALLING, S*** TALKING, HIGH ROLLER, DICE ROLLER AUTOOGRAPH SIGNING ROCKSTAR IN BIRD IDENTIFICATION AND IN THE STUDY OF BIRDS IN GENERAL....
EVERY BIRD SUBSPECEIS HAS ITS OWN UNIQUE...KEY WORD...UNIQUE..VOICE (and "voice" by the way is the word that Birding people use to describe a Bird's sounds, calls, sounds and songs)
.CALL, SOUND, SONG AND OTHER NOISES THAT THEY MAKEsecret and here is the ultimate Way to know what you're dealing with
SO WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT A BIRD SOUNDS LIKE YOU CAN BET THAT YOU WILL BE 100% ACCURATE ON EVERY OCCASSION IN YOUR EFFORTS TO CORRECTLY IDENTIFY BIRD SUBSPECIES AND DISTINGUISH THEM FROMO ONE ANOTHER WHICH WILL VASTLY AID YOUR EFFORT TO STUDY THAT SUBSPECIES.
THAT IS WHY WE ARE HERE WE WANT TO CATALOG THE SOUNDS CALLS AND SOUNDS OF EVERY BIRD SUBSPECIES THE WORLD OVER AND AID BIRD ENTHUSIASTS LIKE YOU IN ACCURATELY IDENTIFYING AND STUDYING BIRDS, AND HOPEFULLY ACHIEVE A FEW OTHER GOALS ALONG THE WAY...
NOW BACK TO THE FERRUGINOUS HAWK...
Ferruginous Hawks are large Buteo hawks with relatively long wings and large heads. The wings narrow to form more pointed tips than is typical for other buteosLight-morph Ferruginous Hawks have strikingly white underparts and rusty legs that form a V when the bird is soaring. They have rusty upperparts with pale heads. Immature light morphs have varying amounts of brown spotting on the belly and legs. Rarer dark-morph individuals are mostly a deep rufous-chocolate. White bases to the primary feathers form white panels in the outer wing.
