I've lately come to awareness of “the burden” that I am blessed to have been given to carry though life. It is only through recent pain and suffering that I have realized my calling, and realized that I need to carry this momentum generated from that pain and the suffering that is being thrown at me. I am not an individual. I am not self-reliant. I’m not a lone wolf. We are all one giant interdependent community. When we reach the realization that the greatest joy in life is derived from caring for others in a deep and meaningful and empathetic and altruistic and unselfish way, that is when we truly discover joy and happiness, and that is when we truly begin to live life. Up until that point, everything is a rushed, distracted, must-stay-busy effort to achieve what it is that our egos have called of us. But when the ego is set aside, and authentic love is allowed to emerge, suddenly all this driving for recognition and power and acceptance from others loses the intensity of meaning that we thought that it had, and we realize that pursuit of ego was only a very small piece of our life… Just one mountain that we felt the urge to climb so that we could see what was at the top, and those that have arrived at the top can tell you without a doubt that the top is not the finish, nor is the top a source of fulfillment and joy. When we tumble off that first mountain into pain and suffering and isolation, it is then, lying on our backs at the bottom of that valley, that we look up and we see the true Mountain. That true Mountain is covered with a dense layer of forest made up of many, many trees. Each of those trees represents our fellow human beings who, on our journey up that true Mountain, are all those people who we stop and help along the way to take to a greater level with us.
