That doesn't mean you don't have to use it anymore or stop using it, it still works but you are deemed to lose program support as programs start to drop for both 7 and 8.1 - So what should you do next? For starters, I made a video recently about a special version of Windows 10. Windows 10 AME, this version of 10 is like 8.1 but with no bloat and spying, it runs very well on light devices. However there is no Windows Update so it cannot be updated! Check 10 AME out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUv2n3ayKtI If you want Windows Update to be secure and such, you may have to upgrade to 10 or 11, they run well but as shown in this video 8.1 runs better. Now I used LTSC 2019 for this video, LTSC 2019 or now 2021, is also a lightweight version of 10 but with 10 years of support. This also has no UWP, so that can be another option! Finally, if you don't want to upgrade and want to stay on 8.1, that is also fine. Programs like Firefox are still supporting and plus there is an ESR version which has even longer support.
