Located in north-central Henan, it is one of the National Central Cities in China, the centre of the Central Plains area, and serves as the political, economic, technological, and educational centre of the province. The prefecture-level city of Zhengzhou has a population of 10,120,000 inhabitants, of whom live in its main urban area. The city had a total GDP of 1.014 trillion (RMB) in 2018.
