On the morning of November 1st, 2020, Sergei said goodbye to his family, got into his car, and drove off without revealing his destination. Unbeknownst to them, he had planned to tackle the expansive Veryovkina Cave in neighboring Abkhazia. Sergei, an avid sportsman in peak physical condition, enjoyed running marathons and participating in various athletic activities. He often went solo trekking or mountain climbing.
