| Video Discription | All about my life my car accident and my transplant - my name is Joe Dimeo and I was the first person to survive a face and double hand transplant #surgery #transplant #facetransplant #handtransplant In 2018, I was in a car accident that changed my life. I was severely burned and I no longer had the face I once knew. My eyelids, nose, lips, one ear, and all of my fingertips were missing. I was in a medically induced coma for 3.5 months at a hospital in New Jersey. I just turned 20 years old when this accident happened. After I woke up, I was ready to move on with my life. In August 2020 I received the World's first successful face and bilateral hand transplant at NYU Langone in Manhattan, New York.
